This was my first digital camera:

These beauties are still available, on eBay, from about a fiver (though this actual example was about 30 quid). What are you waiting for?! It will fit in your pocket, you know?

Digital was some kind of 1.3MP Sony digicam (Cybershot?). It boasted extrapolated pixels to get up to 2MP! (whoah!). Maybe a DSC-S30?? To save card space, though, I often shot at "medium resolution" which seemed OK then, but turns out was 640X480. So, pics of my first born are in VGA

Luckily, we also had a film camera at the time, too.

My first "real" film cam that wasn't a Kodak Instamatic w/rotating flash cube (followed by a 110 instamatic) was a Pentax ME Super.

Mine too. "Simply hold a Pentax". Not sure if that slogan applies these days.

First digital camera I handled was a Canon Ion (images were written to a disc) in the late 80's. I worked in photo retail. I was pretty certain these things would never catch on and that film was here to stay.

Pentax Optio 330 in late 2001. They also had the 430, the 330 was 3mp and the 430 was 4mp (shocking I know). But really who would ever need 4mp, I mean really.

A Canon Digital Rebel. The shutter lag on the point and shoots made them useless to me. The rebel with all its flaws actually worked.

The friend who found me my first (second hand) digital camera knew I wouldn't be interested in anything pedestrian! I still have that Coolpix 4500, along with the wide angle, tele and fisheye adapters, and probably won't part with them. The backdrop is one of my photos taken using it - I was crazy about its macro capabilities.

My first was the Olympus D-220L, a less-than-web-cam quality 0.3 megapixel camera, that I got as a present from my wife February 1998 because back then (the original iMac had JUST been announced) most camera manufacturers did not support Mac computers because Apple was just barely hanging on, but Oly did.

Went from a Nikon system to a Canon D60 in 2001. I was still selling prints at the time and could just about afford it, all 6MP's worth of state of the art.

I still have it, and still shoot with it occasionally just for fun - it would still be a viable body to shoot with today if it had a better LCD. I could live with everything else as even in today's world, it is still a 'real' camera. It put images on billboards back then and probably still could - it has a very distinctive output that I love. It probably needs a damn good service and an upgrade in glass, though. I wonder about buying a nifty-fifty for it again - I sold most of the decent lenses when the children came along, no wanted to buy the body then, and I just have a 28-105 USMii on it now....

Was the coolest thing when I was in my freshman year of high school. It was a hit with friends and the prints were on sticker paper. The above picture was not my actual units. I had a blue gameboy camera and a gameboy pocket, forgot what color at the time. Printer was the same as they didn't come in colors.

I really wanted those but no way I could get my parents to justify it.

I had the clear version of the Game Boy (original chunky one) best Xmas ever unwrapping that.

I ran these cameras alongside my film gear (I had been shooting seriously since the 1970s). Both had 1/2.5" sensors and surprisingly good image quality. And look at those lens apertures.

In 2008 I bought a Pentax K200D and went full digital.

You would've loved it back in the day. Besides taking pics, you were able to draw on them, add stickers such as noses, eyes, etc to make them funny and had mini games based on the old game and watch series in which you could add faces to the characters.
It had its limitations of course like black and white with only 4 shades of grey, very low res and a capacity of about 30 pics if I remember correctly with no way of taking them out besides printing but that didn't stop it from being plain fun.

Mine was a Pentax Options S50. I could not get any set of batteries to last for more than 5 or so photos.

I had the same problem with my first Fujifilm p&s from 2003. It even guzzled duracells. It wasn't till a worker friend introduced me to Energizer rechargeable batteries that my camera at the time would last forever.
