Washburn VG-40 Superstrat - a 90s shredding machine.

What took @MichaelSewell one light, I did in four. But to be fair, the guitar is flat as a pancake and covered in chrome!

How did you manage the guitar floating in space like that? It's a really nicely done shot.

It's on a floor stand, but I positioned the camera in such a way that it would be easy to clone out in Photoshop. If you look on the left side at the bottom of the guitar, you can see where my cloning wasn't as neat as it could be.

When taking the picture of the Oud (on the first page if this thread), I suspended it with fishing line.

Ok. I did a similar thing in a series of shots a couple of years ago.

Hendrick, they are quite gorgeous, i bet they sound as good as they look. Gut stringed and gut frets? I assume the large 'double bass' sized viol is a violone. What are the other three viol called, the 7 stringed and the two different 6 string?

Well Done! Yes to gut all around. All are my wife's instruments.
From left to right on floor stands:
7-string bass viol (Zuchowicz)
6-string violone (Zuchowicz)
ukulele (Kala)
7-string bass viol (Tourin)
you can see the neck & peg box of a ca. 1790 quartet cello (Anon.) behind
6-string tenor viol (Zuchowicz)
Lying on the early 19th c. piano:
6-string treble viol (Zuchowicz)

7-string basses were a late 17th c. innovation by French makers and players that extended the instrument's range downward to match & exceed the bottom range of the cello.

This came out of a bag of misch-masch a friend bought at a church rummage sale. Seems to have been purchased in Hawaii in the '60s. It's seen better days but the sound is both sweet and full, exactly as koa instruments are described. Unnamed.
