Both shots were taken wide open at f1.2.

Here is a wide open shot focused on the front of the train from a recent visit to Switzerland. I will post a few more below too.

From a Museum Display. The 17mm was a joy to use in the Museum where flashes were not allowed and the lighting was not always the best.

The 17mm arrived today and I had try it out of course. After a 33 degree day the beach was the spot to be this afternoon. My daughter is a semi willing subject so grabbed a few photos before heading out for a swim. All are shot at F1.2 on my Panasonic G9.
I am really enjoying my brief time with this lens, it is expensive but the image quality at F1.2 is amazing Olympus have really nailed it.

That last shot really shows the DOF capable in this lens. Nice shot!

A few shots from my time with a rental copy, and then this afternoon with my personal copy. All shots are SOOC JPG (I've really been trying to find the right combination of settings to deliver OOC JPGs I'm happy with). The lens is nice and sharp wide open at f/1.2. Bokeh is nice and smooth, however generating OOF backgrounds requires you to get pretty darn close to your subject.

I got this lens the day before I was leaving for the races, so I decided to bring it with me rather than the 25 PRO.

I was never a huge fan of the 50mm FoV (ff eqv.), but after using the 25 PRO I'm beginning to like it much more, and the PRO lens is nice because it does a nice job of softening the background when shot at f/1.2 . Achieving that same effect with the 17 PRO is more difficult, since it is only a 35mm FoV. However, I do like the 35mm FoV for the distortion it adds, and also how you can get in close to your subject but still have a lot of the background in the image since it isn't as compressed.

I'm not 100% sold on the 17 PRO yet like I am the other two lenses. It's not because of it's performance (it's just as good as the other two PRO primes when it comes to sharpness). I'll continue to shoot with it here over the coming months before deciding what to do.

I'm kind of impressed by the amount of blur. I particularly like the last picture.

Yeah, it's not bad. There's definitely more blur than with the 17/1.8, 15/1.7, etc., but I'm still not 100% sold on the lens. It's no fault of the lens, it's a fantastic piece of glass, but after shooting with the 25 PRO for so long, the 17 PRO is an entirely different lens. You have to get much closer to your subject to separate them from the background.

I'm going to Hawaii in a few months, and need to figure out if I'll take the 17 or the 25 with me.
