When shooting with my newly acquired Olympus OM 300mm lens, I connect my EP5 to a tabletop tripod, which I press to my chest. The EVF sits about 25 cm under my eye, so there is no way to view the scene through a 'normal' EVF. Fortunately the VF4 of Olympus can be flipped up. Now I can bend my head and press my eye against the EVF. See photo.
It is a bit of a balancing act, but it seems to work.
Pics are reasonably sharp, provided I was able to put the (obviously manual) focus at the chosen subject, which is rather hard to guess.
