It's nice to be back out on the streets of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala again. Heading out early in the morning when the markets are setting up and there is a buzz around - presents some wonderful street pic opportunities.

glad you neglected that law!!! :2thumbs:
This is such an innocent photo of children playing in a street and will be a delightful documentary. I rank it along with the photo of the two boys taken at Glasgow by Bert Hardy last century.
Otherwise you have been lucky the authorities were not called in to prevent you from doing something so utterly harmful to these persons depicted.
Thanks for sharing the photo.

way too kind to consider my snapshot in the same league as Bert Hardy. :flowers_2:
I don't think authorities would have been called, and if they were all I would do is point to the endless mobile-phone photographers around me doing pretty much the same.
There is no law preventing one from taking pictures of children, at least not in a democratic civilized country (?) or is there?
However you are right: one brings waaaay more attention to him/herself if holding something that resembles a camera (and the bigger the worse), versus the phone. But the intent is identical.
At least with the tilt screen I looked (psychologically) less threatening as I didn't cover my face to compose that image.

no, it's long gone now. the sides have plexiglass installed to prevent the locks from accumulating again, but there are a few rebels. didn't have my camera last time I was in Paris, unfortunately.
that image was taken in Salzburg, Austria; a month ago.
The caption; "is it still there" was my take on the woman looking intently is that particular spot like she was searching for that padlock from years past?

Last visit to Innsbruck, the padlock craze had barely got started, though the city fathers were set up for it...

no apologies needed as I realize my caption was kind of cryptic.
I wonder what will the future generation think of this "obsession" with the padlocks. Then again at least it's a tangible medium, versus some electronic form of love declaration :inlove:
